This project was in collaboration with Sleeping Institute Copenhaguen.


Excessive screen time can negatively impact the quality of your sleep. Electronic devices, particularly smartphones and computers, emit blue light, which can interfere with your body's production of melatonin, the hormone responsible for regulating sleep. Ensuring your body gets the rest it needs is crucial for maintaining overall mental and physical health, and this may involve reassessing your phone usage habits.

This project, grounded in user research and data collection, proposes an innovative solution: a bedside table with an internal light that activates only when your phone is placed inside it, making it difficult to retrieve from bed. This design aims to encourage healthier habits and enhance sleep quality by leveraging System 1 thinking patterns.

Reflections

This project was an invaluable opportunity to apply UX/UI design principles in a real-world setting, contributing to a product that promotes social connectivity and culinary exploration. It challenged me to think creatively about how to meet user needs and preferences, enhancing my skills in research, design, and collaboration. The experience underscored the importance of user feedback in the design process and the impact of thoughtful design on user engagement and satisfaction.
